ABOUT YOUTH PEACE NETWORK

“Youth Peace Network” is a network of Young people started by Aware Girls in 2010 with the aim to building peace and combating religious extremism in Pakistan through promoting tolerance, inter-faith dialogue, harmony, and pluralism in the society, and by strengthening the conflict resolution skills of young people. (previously, the network was known as Seeds of Peace). The Secretariat of the network is at “Aware Girls”; a young women led organization working for the empowerment of young women and peace building.

 

TRAINING ON SKILLS FOR PEACEBUILDING, PLURALISM, and CHALLENGING RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM"

Aware Girls' has announced the 3rd training of the "Youth Peace Network" from 26th August-30th August 2011 with the title of Skills for Peacebuilding, Pluralism and Challenging Religious Extremism". 30 young people of KP will be selected for the training, the training cost will be covered by Aware Girls, and travel arrangements will also be done by the organizers.

 

Through the training young people will learn about the issue of religious extremism in Pakistan, its historic roots, the issue of Talibanization, peacebuilding and conflict resolution skills, and the role of youth in promoting peace and combating religious extremism.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA/WHO CAN APPLY

If you are a young person (any gender) below the age of 27, live in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and believe in Peace, Non-Violence and Tolerance, and interested to be part of the local Peace building, you can apply to the training

The application should be at least 1 page, and it should contain answer to the following questions:

1. What do you know about the issue of religious extremism in Pakistan?

2. Please tell us that in your view why so many young people of Pakistan have joined the Taliban/Militant organizations?

3. Please tell us about your prior leadership experience? (What work you have done to address any issue of the society?)

4. Why you want to attend the training on "Skills for Peacebuilding, Pluralism and Challenging Religious Extremism"

5. How you will use the skills learnt after the training? What role will you play in promoting peace?

6. Will you volunteer with Aware Girls for promoting peace in Pakistan?
