PESHAWAR FEB 15: On the desire of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, the Provincial Minister of Higher Education, Qazi Muhmmad Asad Khan made a special visit to the CECOS University main campus to discuss various Research, innovation and Commercialization projects of the CECOS University.

The Minister remained in the University campus for 4 hours. In his welcome remarks, the Vice Chancellor thanked the Chief Minister for giving the opportunity through the Minister, Higher Education to discuss concerted efforts of CECOS University towards R&D activities for the betterment of the province. In his opening remarks, the Minister appreciated the role of the University for serving the community since 1986. He appreciated the remarkable efforts of Engr. Muhhamad Tanveer Javaid, President CECOS University for pioneering its role towards promoting Higher Education in the Private Sector which has brought CECOS University in the W3 Category of the Higher Education Commission.

Giving a brief profile of CECOS University by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Riaz A. Khattack highlighted the contribution of CECOS University in terms of research projects completed, papers published and graduated produced. Later, the Minister was briefed about the recent research, Innovation and Commercialization activities in the University by Director ORIC and was informed about the participation of faculty and students in undertaking various Research Projects funded by CECOS University as well as by the external funding sources including DoST, ICT & HEC.

Various projects in Power System, Communication and Architecture were shown to the Minister who took great interest and appreciated the role of the University for showcasing its engineered technologies. He expressed satisfaction on submitting joint International energy related Projects with the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, University of Tennessee USA and University of North Carolina USA which focus on the immediate needs of the Province during Energy Crisis in the country.

The work of two renowned architects namely Dr. Shakeel Qureshi & Arch. Afzal Ebrahim was greatly appreciated by the Minister and suggested to apply their energy effective building concept on any official buildings of KPK in Peshawar. The Chairman Dept of Electrical Engineering demonstrated the details of the students’ projects in the Lab. The Chairman Architecture Department also briefed the Minister about the establishment of proposed Urban Resource Center in collaboration with Institute of Architect Pakistan (IAP), which will create and think tank for contributing its technical role in the public policy matter.

In the end, the Vice Chancellor presented the University Shield to the Minister. In his concluding remarks, the Minister highly appreciated the innovative research work particularly the energy related projects, online flood control system and online information display system and urged for its commercialization. He assured to convey the Chief Minister KPK about the positive outcome of his visit and the sincere intentions of CECOS University towards contributing its role in addressing the real technical problems of the province through R&D work.

i m sania abdul malik doing m.s from comsats atd in the field of mathematis, i was really glad to listen abount your announcement of free laptops for talented students , but now really hopless to see the situation that no prvt uni is included in this programme. i m the daughter of a widow who cant afford my educatiuonal expenditures i m studying on merit fee concession. and really need a laptop for my research work and requests you to kindly consider me for a free laptop i shall be highly thankful to you for your kind cooperation. thanks
